How do I download maps and the library?

Open Settings → Offline packs and choose what to download. We recommend at least the Lithuania map (with navigation and address search) and the official publications. Downloads continue when you close the app.

How much space do I need?

The Lithuania map with navigation is about a 413 MB download, the official publications 147 MB, the medical encyclopedia 385 MB. The shelter data and the overview map are installed straight away. The pack list shows how much space each pack takes and how much is left on your device. All sizes are on the data page.

Does it really work offline?

Yes. Once you’ve downloaded the packs, switch on flight mode and try it: the map, the nearest shelter, routes, address search, the guides and the library all work. GPS works without internet too. We recommend trying this in advance, while things are calm.

Why does the app ask for my location?

To show the nearest shelter, guide you there, and show your coordinates to read out to 112. Your location is used only on your device and never sent anywhere. The app works without it too – you’ll just have to find your place on the map yourself.

How is the data updated?

Shelter, evacuation point and siren data updates itself when you open the app with an internet connection. For other packs, an “Update” button appears in the pack list, with a description of what changed. Only what changed is downloaded.

How do I pass a pack to someone without internet?

On the pack’s page, tap Share and choose AirDrop or another method. The recipient opens the file with evac.lt, or chooses Settings → Receive a pack from a file. The app checks the digital signature before installing the pack.

Why are shelters only shown in Lithuania?

We only use shelter data from official, openly published sources. In Lithuania, PAGD publishes it. Latvia, Estonia and Poland don’t publish such data for free use, or only partly, so their maps show essential places from OpenStreetMap (hospitals, pharmacies, water and more), but not shelters.

Why is part of the library in English?

The most complete freely distributable medical and survival knowledge is in English. In Lithuanian there are the official KAM and PAGD publications and Wikipedia. The app’s guides and checklists are in all five languages. Library search works in Lithuanian and English.

I found a mistake. Who do I tell?

Shelters, evacuation points, sirens – the official list is maintained by PAGD; you can tell them and us.

Map, addresses, essential places – this is OpenStreetMap data; you can fix it yourself on openstreetmap.org, and the fix will reach the next map update.

How is evac.lt different from LT72?

LT72 is the official government app, with official information and alerts; we recommend having it. evac.lt complements it with what works without a connection: maps with address search and navigation across Lithuania and its neighbours, action guides, a library, and passing packs to others without internet. evac.lt doesn’t send alerts.

Is this an official government app?

No. evac.lt isn’t affiliated with any government authority, but it uses their open data and public publications. In an emergency call 112 and follow official instructions.

How do I delete all my data?

You can remove packs one by one in the pack list. Deleting the app removes all its data, including the emergency card and checklists. We don’t hold any of your data – see the privacy policy.

Will there be an Android version?

Yes, we’re working on it. The packs are already built to work on both platforms.
